Insert Insert Date and Time in MS Word

Method 1: Inserting Date and Time from the Ribbon:

  1. Place your cursor at the location in your document where you want to insert the date or time.
  2. Go to the “Insert” tab in the ribbon.

  4. In the “Date and Time” dialog box, you can select the desired date and time format from the options provided.
  5. Check the box next to “Update automatically” if you want the date and time to automatically update each time you open or print the document. This is useful for documents where you need the date and time to reflect the current date.
  6. Click “OK” to insert the date and time into your document.

 

Method 2: Using Keyboard Shortcuts:

You can quickly insert the current date or time using keyboard shortcuts:

  • To insert the current date, press “Alt + Shift + D.”
  • To insert the current time, press “Alt + Shift + T.”

These shortcuts work in most versions of Microsoft Word.

 

Method 3: Inserting Date and Time via Field Codes:

  1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the date or time.
  2. Press “Ctrl + F9” to insert a pair of curly braces ({}).
  3. Inside the curly braces, type “DATE” to insert the current date or “TIME” to insert the current time.
  4. After typing “DATE” or “TIME,” the field code should look like this: { DATE } or { TIME }.
  5. Right-click within the field code (e.g., { DATE }) and select “Update Field” to display the current date or time.
  6. To change the date or time format, right-click on the field code, and select “Edit Field.” In the “Field Codes” dialog box, you can specify the desired format.
  7. Click “OK” to apply the format.

 

Method 4: Using Quick Parts (Word 2016 and Later):

  1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the date or time.
  2. Go to the “Insert” tab in the ribbon.
  3. In the “Text” group, click on “Quick Parts.”
  4. Select “Field” from the dropdown menu.
  5. In the “Field” dialog box, choose “Date” or “Time” from the “Categories” dropdown list.
  6. Select the desired date or time format from the “Field names” list.
  7. Click “OK” to insert the date or time with the selected format.

These methods allow you to insert the current date and time into your Word document in various formats, making it easy to keep your documents up-to-date or display time-sensitive information.
