Among them, Stock Groups help classify your products based on nature, type, or category. But sometimes, we make mistakes while creating a stock group, or the business requirement changes — and we need to edit (alter)

Stock Groups in TallyPrime help you organize your stock items by category. If you’ve created multiple stock groups (like Electronics, Furniture, Groceries, etc.), you may want to view the details of any group to check its name, parent group, and other settings. Click on Chart of Accounts Click on Stock Group  

Stock Categories in TallyPrime help to group items by characteristics other than their stock group. This is useful when one item fits in more than one classification. Viewing a stock category allows you to see its settings and ensure it’s been created correctly. Click on Chart of Accounts Click on Stock Categories  

Before we dive into altering, let’s quickly understand what a Stock Category is: A Stock Category allows you to classify similar items that belong to different stock groups but serve the same purpose. In TallyPrime, Stock Categories help you manage and classify your stock items. But if you have created a stock category by mistake or no longer need it, you can delete it easily. From the Gateway of Tally, press: Alt Click on Stock Categories Choose the Category to Delete Select the category you want to delete.

In TallyPrime, Stock Units help define the measurement used for your stock items like pieces, kilograms, litres, meters, etc. Viewing the created stock unit helps you check if everything is entered correctly. Click on Unit  

Units of Measurement play a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory records in TallyPrime.
